Today I am doing as the winds say and staying inside. It seems the universe prescribed me a Morning Reading in Bed, which I have done gladly. From the comfort of my warm blankets, I’ve been watching the wind make the magnolia leaves outside my window shudder as it runs by. The sky is thick with grey clouds, and the trees seem to be holding their breath in anticipation of what the townsfolk are calling “the snowpocalypse”. I am doubtful that we will get much snow in this corner of the world, but I will be the first to say I am happy I was wrong if we do.
Now that I have resigned myself to being stuck inside, I am finding the apartment full of the perfect ingredients for a winter day. Hand-knit socks made by a friend’s mother that I have never been truly cold enough to wear until now. The shiny Fellow tea kettle Marcela gifted to me for my birthday. I think of her every time I use it, which, needless to say, is often. And of course, the heated mattress, which I have only just now turned off, and only because I needed the outlet to charge my computer so that I might write this.
Most of the time I try not to bring my laptop into bed with me, as they say it’s not good for the brain. But I’m pretty sure you’re not supposed to eat hashbrowns in bed either, so today must be a day of exceptions. If I can manage to drag myself out from under the covers I plan on putting on some music while playing around in the kitchen. Here’s what I’ll be listening to.
It’s A Funny Thing - Liang Lawrence

Heaven - Cleo Sol

I can feel the day slipping away now and I might just let it. Emails, laundry, and to-do lists are calling my name, but so are the stars…
