How sweet does the pink moon shine this April. Her face glows and covers my world in rosy hues.
The pink tips of spring beauties littering the grass like stars at my feet. Pink wine on a tuesday evening with the smoke from Korean cigarettes sitting heavy in my chest. My shoulders kissed pink by the sun after spending a morning nursing a hangover by the river. The pink flesh inside the endless piles of the first season’s tomatoes I’m always trying to catch up on slicing at work. The evening primroses that fill highway medians all over the state. The blush across my face from being called pretty in broad daylight. The rock faces at Crystal Bluff blush too as I dangle from a rope and watch the sun set over the Arkansas River.
When my feet touch earth again, I feel myself settling into the feeling of my soul on the ground. Spring and I have made fast friends, as we always do. And the minute it got warm enough, I found myself running away to the Ozarks again to slip back into the mountain rivers. Time has been kind to me this month and slowed down a little. I am soaking in every minute I have left in my home state before I run away to even bigger mountains in just three weeks time…
I want to be sad about saying goodbye, but it’s hard to be sad when Spring sounds like this.

My break from substack was longer than I expected, and I’m really only stopping by to say hi again. I hope to post again at least once or twice before the end of this month, but don’t expect I’ll have much to say.
From the ground,
